The New Meta Update: Everything You Need to Know!

Meta has announced a MAJOR update - and it’s shaking things up.

Although it’s not yet live in Asia (don’t panic!) it’s important to know how this change will affect you and your business’s online presence. Read on to find out more!

So, What’s Changing?

If you’re noticing changes in your feed - you're not imagining things. These changes are happening because of Meta's latest updates. They've now rolled out new subscription tiers to cater to different business needs.

In simpler terms, getting your content seen now comes with a hefty price tag, with Meta tweaking their algorithms to limit reach unless you're willing to pay more. This is making the online space more exclusive and means that if you want to keep up and get noticed, you might have to pay out. Unfortunately, this shift affects how businesses and individuals connect with their audiences, making it more challenging to stand out without investing in these new paid options.

What’s more, to get in on the action, you've got to be ‘plan legible,’ which means meeting certain criteria based on your activity on the platform! Meta is now looking at things like how active you are, how much interaction you're getting, and the buzz around your profile. Basically, they want to see if you're a leader in your industry.

The Tiers

The subscription tiers will be the following:

  • Business Plus: Momentum ($45 per month)

  • Business Premium: Engagement ($120 per month)

  • Business Max: Optimisation ($350 per month)

These changes are first rolling out in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada - so no need to panic as it’s yet to reach Asia! If you're in one of these countries however, you'll be the first to experience the new subscription model. The higher tiers come with some cool perks like profile enhancements, better support, and special features in your feed to help boost your visibility. But, of course, these perks come with a price. If you want priority support and those extra features, you'll have to pay for the higher subscription tiers too!

The Bottom Line

If you can afford to invest in Meta's new subscription tiers, that's great! However, it's essential to remember that paying for reach and visibility doesn't necessarily guarantee quality engagement with your audience.

Our advice to navigate these changes effectively? Prioritise genuine connections with your audience on a personal level. While the new subscription tiers can enhance your profile and visibility, they shouldn't be the sole strategy for building your online presence. Authentic engagement and meaningful interactions are key to sustaining a loyal and active community.

Focus on creating valuable content that resonates with your audience. Share your story, respond to comments, and engage in conversations that matter to your followers. These organic interactions build trust and loyalty, which are far more valuable than the temporary boost that paid reach might offer.
