How Often Should You Post on Social Media?
One of the most common questions we get asked the most at For The Love of Socials is “How often should I post on social media?”
And while you know we live and breathe social media, our answer might surprise you: It depends.
There are many factors that go into creating a balanced social media posting schedule, and it will all come down to your brand, what’s sustainable for you, and your overall social goals. Let's break it down a bit.
We know that it’s crucial for you to get more eyes on your brand, and that it can be daunting to stay on top of the ever-changing trends. When you’re trying to figure out your ideal posting schedule, we want you to ask yourself the following:
What are my social media goals?
Dive deep, and think about what you’re really trying to get out of social media. Do you want to build a community? Get more eyes on your product? Go viral?
Determining what you want to do, it will make it easier to figure out how you’re going to do it.
What is my content capacity?
Look, we get it, running a business is tough, and we know that your time is in high demand. So, what kind of time can you commit to creating content? Do you need to take photos or design graphics? Are you comfortable getting in front of a camera?
So many businesses start out with gusto, only to fizzle out because they can’t keep up with their own (unsustainable) posting schedule.
What season is my business in?
The timing of your business will also affect your social media presence. Is your brand spanking new and want to get more eyes on your brand? You’ll need to post more than a mature brand with a dedicated, engaged following.
The most important question to ask yourself is “What can I realistically commit to?” There is no one-size-fits-all posting schedule, because in reality, the best posting schedule for you, is one that you can keep up for the long run.
Once you’ve got your schedule planned out, we want you to keep in mind that it’s okay to:
Change your posting schedule: It’s about experimenting with what your followers engage with and the type of content you enjoy creating.
Focus on quality over quantity: If you’re able to pump out 2 stop-them-in-their-scroll reels a week, we will always take that over 4 reels that barely get a pause before they’re passed by. Quality > Quantity.
Hire out: Not that we’re biased or anything, but sometimes socials just aren’t your jam, and hiring out might be your best option. The team at For The Love of Socials is here to be your coach, your cheerleader, and your team partner all in one if you decide you need some help.
Our last bit of advice: Diversify how you show up. Share static posts a few times a week to highlight products or services, multiple stories to show the face behind the business (p.s. That’s you!), and a couple of reels a week to entertain and educate.
You got this. But if you need a little help? For The Love of Socials got your back.
