Hiring My First Full-Time Employee

Small business owners, we all know that you don’t have one official title.

Sure, you might have “Owner”, “Founder”, or “CEO” in your email signature, but that doesn’t do what you do justice. You’re often in administration, marketing, accounting, business planning, and more! For the first year of For the Love of Socials, I was all those things, too! As my business grew, I knew it was time to bring on some help. Enter Syada.

Before you get to know more about her and what she does (because you totally should, she’s amaaaaazing), I want to go into a little bit more detail about why I decided to hire her and why the timing was right.

Quite simply? I didn’t want to burn out.

Solopreneurs and small business owners, I can practically feel you nodding from here. The way that some people talk about it it’s like burnout is a right of passage for small business owners. But I wasn’t interested in that. I wanted to be proactive with my hiring choices instead of feeling desperate after experiencing any crash and burn.

This meant that I got to be selective about who I hired and be deliberate about finding someone to help FTLOS grow.

I am so excited that I found Syada. She’s a full-time content creator in charge of all the creative content our clients need. From designing illustrations and graphics to creating social media posts and videos, Syada’s got it covered.

She understands that our clients need (and deserve!) high-quality content on their socials to drive engagement, build brand awareness and achieve their business goals. Her content makes followers want to engage with our clients’ brands which helps to boost conversion rates.

Just like starting a business, making my first hire was definitely daunting. Choosing to grow is both scary and exciting. Making a hire is a huge investment, but I knew it was necessary so that FTLOS could expand in the way I know it’s capable of. Obviously, it helps that Syada is an absolute joy to be around and that she’s dialled into FTLOS’ values. She wants to help small businesses succeed just as much as I do.

Oh, and did I mention that we also have an intern, Stacey, joining us for the next 4 months? That’s right, the FTLOS team just continues to grow. From a solopreneur team of one to a team of four in a year? I sometimes feel like I’m dreaming!

Another reason I wanted to bring on team members now is that our upcoming months will be packed full of client work. We’re already planning and prepping for the holiday season so that our clients have strategies in place and assets to fill their feeds.

If this makes you think about your own socials, and your first thought is, “But I’m not ready for the holiday season!”, you know we’ve got your back. We get that you’re probably working to the limits of your bandwidth and that your capacity is currently at “zilch”. Luckily, that doesn’t mean that your socials have to suffer.

We have a few spaces on our client roster available, and as part of our celebration of being in business for a full year (!), we’re offering 10% off of our content creation shoots. This means that you get to maximise your budget and your social media impact… while working with a pretty amazing team. We’ve only got 5 slots available at this price, so make sure you get on it ASAP.

Kick off your holiday season content with brand assets that make you want to hit the “Share” button time and time again. Click that pink “Say Hello” button to get your socials rolling and your business growing in time for the holidays.
